Join us October 3 – 5 for a celebration of the great outdoors at The Oval! Just in time for fall, The Oval returns with a weekend full of camping-inspired activities and events. In addition to these special programs, The Oval will bring back popular elements from the summer season, including delicious food truck fare, lots of games, and a beer garden presented by Yards Brewing Company.

The fun kicks off Friday night with live music, fire pits, and stories around the campfire. We are pleased to feature skilled presenters from First Person Arts, a Philadelphia nonprofit that celebrates the art of storytelling. Move from campfire to campfire to meet different storytellers and hear tales about outdoors adventures, camping calamities, and maybe even a spooky story to get you ready for Halloween! After the storytelling, join us as the fires die down for a showing of Moonrise Kingdom.

On Saturday, bring out the family to play in kid-sized tents and teepees, and experience an amazing rope course! On site all three days, this urban playground will challenge kids as they climb, swing, and weave through the unique structure. In the evening, gather around a campfire for more storytelling, this time aimed at kids and provided by the Free Library, then enjoy a sing-a-long led by local musician Emily Bate. Cap the evening with a classic family flick, The Parent Trap (1961), starting around 7:00pm.

Come back out on Sunday for a tent pitching contest with local outfitter Fireside Camp Supply, face painting, a kid-friendly DJ, and a live screening of the Eagles vs. Rams, plus your last chance to conquer the rope course!
