About The Oval

The Oval XP transforms a public parking lot into Philadelphia’s largest outdoor urban oasis where locals and visitors alike can enjoy eight acres of food and beverage, art, music and entertainment, wellness experiences, and free special event programming. The Oval XP officially opens to the public on Thursday, June 16, 2022, bringing a renewed sense of energy to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The Oval XP will be open Wednesday through Sunday through August 21, 2022, extending its seasonal run from six to eleven weeks this summer. 

Features of the Park

The summer-long experience welcomes Philadelphians back to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway while uplifting and investing in the city’s creative economy.

The Oval XP will showcase Philadelphia’s award-winning and talented local artists, makers, and entrepreneurs.

The Oval XP will be home to Philadelphia’s largest beer garden and anchored by the world’s largest mobile observation wheel and signature Carousel.

Have Fun

The Oval XP welcomes all people. Everyone is responsible for making sure that all attendees can enjoy themselves by treating others with respect. Please have as much fun as humanly possible, but be sure to do so without infringing upon the abilities of other guests to also enjoy their experience.

Listen

Oval XP staff are charged with making sure everything runs smoothly, please listen to their directions. In the event of an emergency, please follow the directions of rescue/emergency professionals.

Be Safe

Exercise common sense and avoid unnecessary risks. Stay hydrated, take breaks from the sun, and reapply sunscreen often.

DOME EXPERIENCES

These domes feature Virtual Reality (VR) and 360 degree immersive audio and visual experiences that range from breathtaking visuals that transport audiences to immersive worlds both known and unknown.

Imagination Space

Enjoy nine-hole miniature golf course, imagination playground blocks and builder kits, and interactive gaming activities – like ping-pong, Connect Four and Legos, plus borrow books and instruments from the outdoor reading and music carts.

Community Stage

Front and center at The Oval XP is the brand new Summer Stage – a 32’x24’ foot stage that will host some of the most diverse music programming in the country.

Ferris Wheel

The Oval XP is home to the world’s largest mobile ferris wheel. Get to see Philadelphia from a view like never before!

Carousel

In addition to the observation wheel, the Oval XP also offers the signature carousel ride that is open to all.

Food TRUCK

Various food trucks are located at the Oval XP. Visitors of the Oval can use the Upped mobile app to pick up food and beverage items from the truck or have them delivered to them at their seat.

DINING BUS

The Oval XP is proud to offer an intimate and elevated experience for anyone seeking a vibey lounge space to enjoy food and beverages from the Local, our beer garden. The bus lounge also has the best view for any act performing on our Community Stage!
