Civics on Tap: Champs E-le’cheesesteak of Philly
@theoval
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Civics on Tap, in our first ever outdoor hang, will be talking about shapes. Namely, an oval, a circle, and how our neat little grid got a long diagonal slash through it. So come on out to Eakin’s Oval on August 12th to learn about the history, significance, and future of Philadelphia’s very own Avenue de Champs E-le‘cheesesteak: The Ben Franklin Parkway (because we’ll be drinking beer there, duh).
Ever wonder who laid the plans for the city around you, if Philadelphia’s bureaucracy could hold up a project for more than 10 years even in 1907, or why you hate every driver on the Parkway? Well wonder no more! Civics on Tap, with Penn Art History professor and author David Brownlee, will be discussing the storied history of one our city’s most iconic and beautiful boulevards as part of The Oval+ event series. Come hang!
